Known as The Trinity Gateway Church Cemetery,
this initiative is now underway to renovate the cemetery grounds with the
hope it will become a powerful catalyst for the revitalization of the entire
South Side. Led by Grace Episcopal Church, South Providence Development
Corporation, Women & Infants Hospital, the City of Providence, and
the University of Rhode Island Urban Initiative, The Project has brought
together many diverse people willing to contribute their passion, talents
and resources to help fulfill the Project's mission. An early indicator
of the Project's success was the outpouring of support received during
the public comment phase. Many positive and worthwhile suggestions for
the cemetery's use were considered and developed into an architectural
Master Plan for the cemetery and its neighborhood.
